When I returned after a good hike to the spot where I'd earlier seen the bees swarming, I examined the trees in the vicinity (with caution) and found that the bees had landed on one of them and completely covered part of it.

I took some more photographs keeping what I thought was a reasonable distance. We didn't want any more misunderstandings.
